Clinic policies
Please review our clinic policies before your appointment. Call our office if you have any questions.
1. Walk-in Policy
Riverwood Family Practice does not accept walk-ins. All consultations require an appointment so each patient receives adequate time and attention.
2. No-Show Policy
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. A $40 missed appointment fee may apply on the second occurrence and must be paid before another appointment is booked.
3. Uninsured Services
Some services are not covered by OHIP and are charged according to Ontario Medical Association (OMA) policies. Examples include:
- Insurance and disability forms
- Cosmetic procedures or elective surgeries
- Certain vaccinations and travel-related medical services
- Prescriptions for insurance purposes, including massage therapy, physiotherapy and orthotics
Our staff can clarify whether a service is uninsured. Please ask about fees before proceeding.
4. Respectful Behaviour
Verbal, physical or emotional abuse, including rude behaviour toward staff or physicians, will not be tolerated. Patients engaging in such behaviour may be dismissed from the practice to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
5. Office Hours
- Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM–6:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:30 AM–2:30 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Early and late weekday appointments are by phone.
6. Physician Coverage
Dr. Sinan Qasha and Dr. Kinan Qasha cover each other’s time off to provide continuity of care.
7. Appointment Management
- In-person: Typically available within 7–10 days. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
- Phone: Non-urgent appointments are typically available within 1–2 days.
- Urgent: Tell reception your concern is urgent. You may request to speak with a doctor the same day or the next day.
- Medical emergencies: Go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
Forms are not considered emergencies. We will respond to form requests within 30 days.
8. Prescription Refills
Prescription refills take 5–7 business days. To book a prescription refill appointment, book online or call (416) 741-1622. For urgent refill requests, please call our office.
