Clinic Policies

Thank you for choosing Riverwood Family Practice. Please review the following policies.

1. Walk-in Policy

Riverwood Family Practice is a family practice, and we do not accept walk-ins. To ensure that each patient receives adequate time and attention, appointments are necessary for all consultations.

2. No Show Policy

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, but we kindly request that you provide us with at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Failure to do so may result in a missed appointment fee of $40 for the second occurrence. This fee must be paid before scheduling another appointment to ensure fairness to other patients who may need our services.

3. Uninsured Services (Not covered by OHIP)

While many medical services are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), there are certain services that are not covered. These services are charged according to the policies set forth by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA).

Our staff is available to assist you in determining whether specific forms or notes fall under uninsured services. Examples of uninsured services may include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of certain forms (e.g., insurance forms, disability forms)
  • Cosmetic procedures or elective surgeries
  • Some vaccinations and travel-related medical services
  • Prescriptions for insurance purposes, such as massage therapy, physiotherapy, orthotics, etc.

Please inquire about any potential charges associated with uninsured services during your visit to ensure clarity regarding billing and payment responsibilities. We are committed to transparent communication regarding healthcare costs.

4. Zero Tolerance for Abuse or Rude Behavior

Our clinic is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all patients and staff members. Any form of verbal, physical, or emotional abuse, including rude behavior, towards our staff or doctors will not be tolerated. Patients engaging in such behavior may be dismissed from our practice to maintain a safe and supportive atmosphere for everyone.

5. Hours of Operation

We are open six days a week to accommodate your healthcare needs. Our hours of operation are as follows:

  • Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Saturday: 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Sunday: Closed

You can call and speak to our staff from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday to Friday.

Phone appointments can be booked beyond the working hours indicated. However, the last in-person appointment must be scheduled 30 to 60 minutes before the closing hours to ensure adequate time for consultation.

6. Physician Coverage

To ensure continuous care for our patients, Dr. Sinan Qasha and Dr. Kinan Qasha alternate coverage for each other's time off. This arrangement allows us to provide consistent medical services and minimizes disruptions to your healthcare management.

7. Appointment Management

We strive to accommodate the needs of all our patients. In recognition of the evolving healthcare landscape, we offer various appointment options:

  • In-Person Appointments: Scheduled appointments are typically available within 7-10 days. Patients are requested to arrive 15 minutes before their appointment time.
  • Phone Appointments: For non-urgent matters, phone appointments can be scheduled with a waiting time of 1-2 days.
  • Urgent Appointments: If you require an urgent appointment, you can request to speak with a doctor the same day or the next day. Please inform our staff if your issue is urgent. If you have a medical emergency, please proceed to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Please Note: While we understand the importance of certain forms, they are never considered emergencies. We will respond to forms within 30 days in accordance with CPSO policies.
